Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF Celebrates 60th Anniversary

In 2010, UNICEF will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of its "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF" campaign. Started as a local campaign in Philadelphia in 1950, "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF" went national in 1952. The program is simple yet effective, starting with the distribution of small boxes by schools or corporations to trick-or-treaters. The trick-or-treaters then take the boxes along with them to houses they visit while trick-or-treating, soliciting small change donations. Over the last six decades, the program has collected an estimated $118 million. To learn more about "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF," visit the UNICEF Web site at www.unicef.org.
