A 17-year-old resident of Furnace Street has been charged with ‘reckless homicide’ in connection with the shooting-death of 17-year-old Brandon Bruce of Elyria.

Police found Brandon, Sunday morning, in a garage on Furnace Street, with a gunshot wound to the face.

Police have said, Brandon and the other teen were friends.


The State Highway Patrol has released their Thanksgiving Holiday report…

The Patrol says 15 people were killed in 13 fatal crashes from last Wednesday through Sunday. 

Of the 15…2 were pedestrians, 2 were not wearing a seat belt, and 2 involved impaired driving.

This compares to 7 people being killed in 7 fatal crashes a year ago.


A mother and her two young kids escaped safely from a house fire in Sandusky Sunday night.

According to the Sandusky Register, firefighters believe an electrical issue involving a space heater in a bedroom caused the blaze in the 200 block of Reese Street.

About $25,000 in damage was done to the home and its contents.


Is it too late to get your flu shot? 

Definitely not, according to Huron County Public Health. 

In fact, this is National Influenza Vaccination Week; which highlights the importance of continuing flu vaccination through the holiday season and beyond.

Who Should Get A Flu Vaccine? 

The Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine, especially those that are at higher risk of serious flu complication; including children younger than age 5, people 65-years-old and older and those with chronic medical conditions.


Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is urging Ohioans to be generous with their pocketbook…and with their time…in checking out those seeking donations during the holiday season.

On this ‘Giving Tuesday’, Yost has some safety tips…they include…

-Do not assume that charity recommendations on social media sites are all legitimate. Make sure to research the charity.

-Be cautious of “look-alike” websites and charities with names that sound similar to well-known organizations.

-Make sure the donation website is secure.

-Determine what percentage of the donation will go to the charity and whether there will be any fees for donating.


New commercial development could be coming to Oberlin.

City council has agreed to rezone land at Routes 20 and 58.

A developer from Westlake wants to transform the area.

The City of Willard has canceled this weekend’s inaugural “Playground of Lights”. 

The city says the cancellation of the planned lighting display in the park is due to a low number of participants; with plans to try again to have the event next year.
