Sandusky County/Bellevue murder suspect arrested

A 58-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder Monday in Bellevue.

John Frost is accused of shooting and killing 44-year-old Curtis Gibbs Sunday night in the hallway of a Bryn Mawr apartment room on Thomas Drive.

A preliminary investigation revealed that multiple shots were fired from two different handguns, with one belonging to the victim.

A motive is still being investigated.


Seneca County/Single vehicle fatal crash

A Seneca County woman died Monday night in a one-vehicle crash in Bloom Township.

Samantha Foster of Bloomville was 24.

According to The State Highway Patrol, while on Township Road 12, Foster drove off the right side of the roadway, lost control, then drove off the left side of the road and overturned.

Three child passengers in the pickup truck received minor injuries.


Sandusky County/Former sheriff’s detective pleads guilty in Bogle case

Former Sandusky County Sheriff’s detective Sean O’Connell pled guilty Monday to tampering with evidence charges related to the 2016 Heather Bogle murder case.

O’Connell would’ve faced trial on seven charges.

28-year-old Heather Bogle was found dead in a Clyde apartment complex in April of 2015.

Daniel Myers of Green Creek Township has been indicted for the murder…and is headed to trial this October.


Erie County/Multiple injuries in Saturday crash

Seven injuries from a two-car crash Saturday night in Erie County’s Groton Township…

40-year-old Seth Smale of Perrysburg was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign after striking a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Denise Doyle of Vermilion.

Authorities say Doyle’s vehicle went off the road near the intersection of Ohio 99 and Ohio 4 and knocked down a utility pole.

Two young children were among those hurt.


Huron County/Riot at Norwalk bar

Three Sandusky residents were arrested following a near-40 person bar brawl early Monday in Norwalk.

19-year-old Janelle Martinez, 24-year-old Jonathon Sullivan and 25-year-old Tyler Dillery all face disorderly conduct charges in connection with the scuffle at Charlie’s Bar on Benedict Avenue.


Erie County/Another OVI for Castalia man

A man from Castalia was arrested Sunday for his four alleged OVI charge in 10 years time.

Police say that 27-year-old Anthony Frisbee was stopped on U.S. 6 near Cold Creek Boulevard in Castalia where he was going 59 in a 35-mph-zone.

Frisbee reportedly was two times over the legal limit after taking a portable breath test.


Area News/Business electric bill scam

The Better Business Bureau is warning local business owners about a scam going on involving the payment of electric bills.

In the reported scam, a caller representing the local power company says the business’ account is several months behind and will cut off the power in the next 45 minutes.

When the business employee says they don’t want that to happen, the scammer reportedly tells them to send money on a cash or gift card.


Ottawa County/ Lake Erie meeting

The Lake Erie Foundation is inviting the public to their summer roundtable meeting this Friday.

They even encourage you to bring a glass jar with algae in it, as they will focus on how to engage family and friends on the importance of clean water and a healthy lake.
