Erie County/Final deliberations expected today in Sandusky murder trial

After 25 witnesses took the stand during the last five days in Erie County Common Pleas Court, closing arguments are expected today in the murder trial of 31-year-old Joel Miles.

Miles is on trial for the shooting death of Sandusky’s Anthony Pearson last August in MacArthur Park.

Jury deliberations will follow the closing arguments.


Area News/Bucyrus man guilty of death threats against law enforcement

A jury has found a Bucyrus man guilty of 19 charges related to death threats against several members of law enforcement in Crawford County.

34-year-old Matthew Kunzer was accused of threatening the lives of three Bucyrus police officers, plotting to kill a Crawford County municipal court judge and assistant prosecutor, and threatening the life of a probation officer.


Erie County/Census numbers

In Erie County, more people have died than are born each year during this past decade.

…Those numbers recently shared by the U.S. Census Bureau with county officials.

The U.S. Census Bureau also said that Erie County ranks as the sixth oldest county in the state with an average age of 45.

As far as migration patterns go, recent figures show that around 4,500 people relocated to Erie County in 2016, compared to 3,500 leaving the county.  Those numbers trending positively compared to the three prior years.


Huron County/Norwalk hosting Relay for Life and ‘Imagine Norwalk’ tonight

It’s expected to be a busy night in Norwalk with money being raised for an important cause.

Whitney Field is playing host to the Relay for Life cancer fundraiser beginning at 4:00 pm …with uptown Norwalk the site for the ‘Imagine Norwalk’ arts and music festival starting at 6:00 pm; which will raise funds for Relay for Life.


Erie County/Cedar Fair numbers down

The parent company of Cedar Point says amusement park earnings and attendance have slightly decreased compared to the same time frame last year.

Cedar Fair reports that net revenues were down 2 percent with a 3 percent decrease in attendance across their parks in North America.

The company said there was an increase though in out-of-park revenues, including resorts, which went up by 3 percent.

CEO Richard Zimmerman isn’t too worried though, with high attendance numbers expected during the peak vacation months of July and August.


Erie-Ottawa-Huron County/“Festive” weekend in the area

Things are looking very “festive” throughout the area this weekend…

Lots of activities going on including Sandusky’s Festival of Sail, Huron River Fest, Kelley’s Island Fest, the Middle Bass Island Music Festival and New London’s Rockin’ the Rez.
