Monroeville/Willard girl involved in minor injury crash

A 17-year-old Willard girl was cited for running a stop sign following a two-vehicle accident near Monroeville last week.

The Highway Patrol says Alyssa Strayer was driving on Sandhill Road Thursday evening when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Ohio 547 and collided with the vehicle of 37-year-old Robert Jones of Norwalk.

Both drivers reported injuries but were not hospitalized.


Erie County/Democratic commissioner candidates to debate in April

The three Democratic candidates for Erie County commissioner have agreed to participate in a debate next month at Edison High School.

Julie Farrar, Brad Hartung and Tim Riesterer will take part in the question and answer session, sponsored by BGSU Firelands, and presented by the Sandusky Register.

No official date has been set, but has been announced as being in mid-to-late April.


Sandusky/Ruby Tuesday closes at mall

A restaurant has closed its doors for good at the Sandusky Mall.

Mall spokesman Joe Bell told the Sandusky Register that Ruby Tuesday gave very short notice before it shut down.

The mall is looking to fill the space with another restaurant soon.

Other empty spaces at the mall include ones once occupied by Macy’s, Sears and Charming Charlie.


Huron/School levy meeting this Thursday

The Huron Schools levy steering committee will be joined by school officials for a town hall informational meeting on Thursday.

It will take place from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Huron Library.

Voters in Huron will decide on a 5.9 mill renewal operating levy this May.


Bellevue/Local wrestling ref to Enter OHSAA Officials Hall of Fame

Bellevue’s Jeffrey Crosby is one of fourteen people named to the latest class of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Officials Hall of Fame.

Crosby, a wrestling official, is invited to an induction banquet happening this June in Columbus.


Milan/Edison school wins state school breakfast art contest

This is National School Breakfast Week, with a local school named one of the winners in a related state art contest.

Edison Elementary School in Milan was one of five schools selected as the state encouraged students to create artistic work using the theme “My Favorite Breakfast”.

The winning posters were displayed yesterday at a child nutrition vendor show in Lewis Center, near Columbus.
