Fatal crash on Put-In-Bay

A 32-year-old man from Put-in-Bay was killed in a fatal motor scooter crash early Saturday morning.

According to authorities, Daniel French traveled left of center on Catawba Avenue in Put-in-Bay and off the road; where he struck a utility pole and was thrown from the scooter.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

 

Police looking into reports of shots fired in Sandusky

No suspects have been located after several reports of multiple shots fired on East and South Forest Drive Sunday night in Sandusky.

Authorities did find possible bullet holes around a doorway to a home and shell castings in a driveway nearby.

 

58 pounds of marijuana seized in Erie County traffic stop

Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers seized 58 pounds of marijuana from two California men during a traffic stop in Erie County on Friday.

The 24 and 26 year-olds both face felony drug charges which could lead to 16 years in prison.

The stop was made on I-80 near milepost 121.

 

Huron teen taken to hospital after car crash following cell phone squabble

A 17-year-old boy from Huron was hurt in a car crash involving an argument over what was on his cell phone.

The accident took place Sunday on Cleveland Road and Sandusky Avenue where authorities found a vehicle crashed into a tree.

A female reportedly came to the male’s house and took his phone; where the male followed her and got into her car, which led to the crash.

The male was hospitalized after cutting his forehead on the windshield.  The female received a knee contusion.

 

Fall clean-up this week in Norwalk

Limited fall pickup is going on this week in Norwalk.

Households are allowed to set out three large items or nine extra trash bags for pickup at no additional charge during their normal trash day.

The pickup is limited to household items such as couches, mattresses and TV’s; and restricted to items that two employees can lift.

In Erie and Huron County, they include: Berlin Heights, Greenwich, Huron, Milan, Norwalk, Perkins Township, Sandusky, Vermilion and Willard.
