Woman’s body found in Shoreline Park identified

Authorities have identified the woman’s whose body was found in Shoreline Park in Sandusky on Sunday.

It was Sandusky resident, 73-year-old Marilyn Meachum.

A revolver gun was found underneath her body with a gunshot wound to the head.

Her death is under investigation.

 

Sandusky police searching for armed robbery suspect

Sandusky police are asking for the public’s help in identifying an armed robbery suspect.

Authorities say the suspect, believed to be a husky black male standing 5-foot-10-inches tall in his late 20’s to early 30’s, stole money from Mama B’s Pizza on Columbus Avenue after pointing a gun at an employee.

You’re asked to call authorities with any information.

 

Former Marine from Bellevue chosen for state honor

A former U.S. Marine from Bellevue is being inducted this November into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame.

Donald Rospert served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968.

He was influential in bringing ‘The Wall That Heals” Vietnam traveling replica to Bellevue this past summer.

Rospert, a 1960 St. Paul grad, is one of only 20 veterans who will be inducted at the ceremony in Dublin, Ohio on November 9th.

 

Former Sandusky Miss America suing Goodtime boat company

A former Miss America from Sandusky is suing a local boating business.

According to court documents, Jackie (Mayer) Townsend contends that she suffered permanent injuries while riding the Goodtime-One in the summer of 2015.

Townsend is seeking $25,000 or more, along with attorney and other fees.

She won the Miss America crown in 1963; and now travels the country as a motivational speaker.

 

Huron County Public Health holding “Tire Take Back Day”

You can pre-register now for Huron County Public Health’s ‘Tire Take Back Day’ happening later this month.

It takes place October 21st from 9:00 am to 12 noon at the Huron County Fairgrounds parking lot in Norwalk.

The event for Huron County residents only is being offered as an attempt to help eliminate mosquito breeding grounds in the county.

Davis-Besse plant holding siren tests on Friday

The Davis-Besse nuclear plant will be conducting an emergency siren test this Friday.

The test will begin at 12 noon, and will include 54 sirens that encompass close to a 10-mile area radiating from the station in Carroll Township.

The three-minute test will be audible in parts of Ottawa and Lucas counties.
